Whitsundays

Im WAY behind on posting this but it needs to be shared. Had this bad boy sitting in the drafts and just now realized, as I’m sitting in Thailand, that I never posted it. Next on my journey after Fraser Island was the Whitsundays. I went from one beautiful huge island to a bunch of beautiful small ones.

Now – you have a ton of options for the Whitsundays. There are so many boats offering tours you just have to decide what you’re after. There are day trips, one night trips, small more intimate boats, party boats, and everything in between. If you know me at all, you know I went the party route. I went on the Atlantic Clipper with the intention of having some fun while sleeping in the middle of arguably the most beautiful islands in the world.

Everyone kept telling me, “oh you’re going on the clipper. its such a party boat.” So I’m not going to lie, I had my expectations set pretty high. The booze situation was the same as Fraser. You bring it with you and put it in a giant esky. It is locked up during the day for liability reasons with snorkeling and drowning, you know… definitely for the best. Then at night, its unlocked and the games begin. The crew gets you involved with games and there is an aux cord. Only issue is.. there are 53 people on that damn boat. So you know everyone had different taste in music and some was God awful.

There were 3 people in each room and about 4 rooms sharing a bathroom. The only weird part was there were only 2 beds per room. So on the top bunk, there are two people and in the bottom bunk has one. There was air con but it was shit to be honest. I wish I had a recording of the “wake up” announcement in the morning. It was my favorite part of my hangover. The food was amazing and there was plenty of it! There was a hot tub on board that I just couldn’t get in with how hot it already was outside.. and very unsure of the bodily fluids it contained to be honest. But the crew truly makes the boat. They are so energetic and really try and get everyone involved. (see clay in the featured image of this post)

We all did have fun for sure! I think my expectations were set too high from all of the hype but my Fraser Island experience was far more “party mode” than the Clipper. Im glad I picked the boat I did and I have not seen anything more beautiful than White Haven Beach but the boat itself was no where near as crazy as people made it seem.

No matter what boat you choose you will absolutely fall in love and if you’re making a trip up the east coast you absolutely HAVE to go to the Whitsundays. I know its pricey but 100% worth it.
